Carter Introduces Resolution Honoring University of Georgia Football Team

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Reps. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) and Sanford Bishop (D-GA) led the Georgia Delegation in honoring the University of Georgia Bulldogs (UGA) football team for their remarkable, undefeated season.

The 2022-23 season was historic for the Bulldogs as it is their first 15-0 season in program history, and included a Southeastern Conference Championship, a Peach Bowl Playoff victory, and their second National Championship in two years.

“It is always a pleasure watching our Georgia Bulldogs be successful on the field, and this game was certainly no exception," said Rep. Carter. “The Dawgs left absolutely no doubt about who the best team in the country is, two years in a row. I also want to shout out the players from Georgia’s First Congressional District, of which there are many, and the mailman himself, Stetson Bennett, a product of Blackshear, Georgia. Go Dawgs!”

“Congratulations to the University of Georgia Bulldogs football program. Head Coach Kirby Smart and his remarkable student athletes represented the University—and the State of Georgia—incredibly by pulling off an undefeated season this school year which was capped by a national championship win,” said Rep. Bishop. “It is a point of pride to note that six student athletes hailing from Middle and Southwest Georgia contributed to this historic season. The Bulldogs continue to excite the college football world. Go Dawgs!”
