Carter obtains federal funding for Glynn County 9-1-1 center

GLYNN COUNTYRep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) secured $3.7 million to update Glynn County's emergency communications technology as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

This funding will allow the county to replace its portable radios, which had an end service date of December 31, 2023, with radios that have LTE and Wi-Fi capabilities, ensuring that first responders can effectively and efficiently protect life and property in the county. The impacted agencies include Glynn County Police, Glynn County Sheriff’s Office, GB911, City of Brunswick Police Department, Glynn County EMS and Fire, Glynn County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), City of Brunswick Fire, and Jekyll Island Fire and EMS.

“Our first responders are some of the best among us, and it is important that they have the tools they need to quickly and efficiently perform their jobs. We are safer when our first responders are properly equipped, and I am proud to support this necessary funding to help protect Glynn County residents and visitors,”
said Rep. Carter.

“We are appreciative of the strong and steadfast support Representative Carter gives to the district. This funding will empower all public safety agencies in Glynn County to enhance their services to the community,”
said Glynn County Board of Commissioners Chairman Wayne Neal.
