America Has Spoken
America has spoken and I'm excited for a new day in our country!

After eight years which have been nothing short of a disaster led by President Obama and democrats, we now have the opportunity to turn to a new page in our history.

I look forward to working with Donald Trump and a unified Congress to deliver results for all Americans.

We must repeal Obamacare and deliver a market based health care system that provides more choices with less costs. We must face radical Islamic terrorism head on and destroy it. We must get the government out of the way of our job creators. We must deliver an all of the above energy strategy. Together, we will tackle these challenges and many more.

My office is now accepting ticket requests for the Presidential Inauguration which will take place in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 20. If you would like to request tickets to the swearing-in ceremony, please complete the form found at buddycarter.house.gov/inaugurationtickets

Due to extremely limited ticket allotments each Congressional office receives, only four tickets are available per request and submitting a request does not guarantee tickets.

From our Nation's Capitol XC
Monday, November 7, 2016:  We have much to be proud of in the First Congressional District of Georgia - 2 major seaports, 4 military installations and, of course, a strong agriculture community.  On Saturday, I was honored to be in Blackshear and Piece County to help open the Pecan Festival of Georgia, a celebration of Georgia agriculture and it’s commerce in our region with the primary focus pecans, a crop that contributes over a billion dollars to the rural economy of Georgia where they are grown.

I also had the opportunity Saturday to attend the retirement ceremony of my good friend, Bobby Tice, from the 117th Air Control Squadron, Air National Guard unit located at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.  The 117th Air Control Squadron has been around since 1948 and recently celebrated their 68th anniversary during which they have earned six Outstanding Unit Awards.  Chief Master Sergeant Bobby Tice and I go back quite a ways with our sons having played in the same sports leagues when they were growing up in Pooler.  I wish him well in his retirement and thank him for his service to our country.  On Sunday morning, Amy and I enjoyed worshiping at Rothwell Baptist Church in Pooler as they celebrated their homecoming and dedication of their newly renovated sanctuary that they have been out of for the past 16 months due to flood damage from a broken sprinkler head.  After meeting with Georgia’s senior Senator, Johnny Isakson, early Sunday afternoon, I finished a very busy weekend by speaking to the Physical Education and Healthcare Specialists from around Georgia who are gathering in Savannah to bring them up to date on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) that we passed in Congress last year.  Today, after an early morning radio interview with Bill Edwards and Laura Anderson with WTKS in Savannah to discuss tomorrow’s election, I head to Healthy Families America in Savannah to learn about the home visiting services that this fine organization provides to overburdened and high-risk parents to help improve the health, education and economic self-sufficiency of children and families living in poverty and experiencing other risk factors.  Finally, in the late afternoon I have a conference call with Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro for an update on the situation at Westlake Apartments in Chatham County.

Tuesday, November 8, 2016:  Well it’s finally here- Election Day in America!  After all the buildup and media attention that we have witnessed over the past couple of years we finally have our opportunity to cast our vote.  While I appreciate the opportunity to vote early, I prefer to vote on Election Day and I’m in line at 7:00 a.m. for what turns out to be a 90 minute wait before I cast my vote.  Afterwards, I head down to Brunswick to speak to the Glynn County Local Emergency Planning Committee to thank them for their fine work during Hurricane Matthew.

Later in the afternoon, I head to Frederica Academy on St. Simons Island where I speak to Mr. Jobe’s government class and share my personal story of how I got involved in politics and what my typical day is like as a Congressman.  Afterwards, I enjoy a time of Q&A with the students who ask insightful and intelligent questions that helps to solidify my confidence in our next generation of leaders.  Finally, I head back to Savannah where I attend a number of viewing parties to watch election results as they come in.

Wednesday, November 9, 2016:  Wow! What a night!  Yesterday, Donald Trump pulled off one of the greatest political victories of all time and now will become the 45th President of the United States of America.  Like many Americans this morning, I can hardly contain myself as my excitement and enthusiasm is overwhelming.  I’m up early and at the studios of WTOC in Savannah for an interview on The News at Daybreak to discuss this historic event.  Next, I call in to WTKS in Savannah for a radio interview with Bill Edwards followed by a call to WGIG in Brunswick for an interview with Scott Ryfun.  After a very busy morning, I head to THA in Pooler for a ride along visit with the only locally owned and operated home health care provider in the area that offers a full line of in-home care services for all needs and ages, allowing patients the opportunity to stay in their homes and remain independent.  My visit actually includes a home visit with one of the highly skilled therapists of THA to witness first hand these valuable services.

Next, I head to my Savannah district office for a meeting with representatives with the National Association of Letter Carriers to discuss Postal Service issues before heading to the airport to catch a flight to Washington where I have some very important meetings tonight.

Thursday, November 10, 2016:  After being in Washington for only 14 hours, I’m back at the airport and on my way home this morning.  Unfortunately, after boarding the flight we experience mechanical issues and sit on the tarmac for over an hour before leaving which causes me to miss a speaking engagement in Brantley County.  Once I’m finally back in Savannah, I head to Brunswick where I visit with the Coastal Coalition of Healthy Families Georgia that services Glynn and McIntosh counties.  Afterwards, I take a ride along tour with DNR law enforcement on their boats in the Brunswick Harbor to learn more of what they do in patrolling our waterways and finish the day in Brunswick by participating in a very special Vietnam Veteran Pinning ceremony at St. Andrews Church.

Congressman Carter Participates in a Ceremony to Honor Vietnam Veterans
Friday, November 11, 2016:  Today is Veteran’s Day and I start with a visit to my home church, Wesley Monumental United Methodist in downtown Savannah, where we have a Veteran’s Day breakfast to honor our Veteran members on this special day and hear from Gary Webb, who owns and operates Webb Military Museum in Savannah.  Afterwards, I head to St. Simons to participate in their Veterans Day parade and ceremony held on Beachview Drive and sponsored by the Veterans Council of the Golden Isles.  The keynote speaker for this special event is Captain T.R. Buchanan from Kings Bay Submarine Base, who delivers an inspiring speech honoring our Veterans.  As I head back to Pooler, I reflect on the many freedoms that we enjoy in our nation and the sacrifices that our Veterans have made in order for us to live in a free country.
