Dear [salutation],

Congress is actively taking action to address the spread of the coronavirus. Two weeks ago, Congress overwhelmingly passed an emergency funding bill to respond to the coronavirus, including funding exclusively for state and local response efforts, support for Small Business Administration loans, funding to protect Americans abroad and slow down the spread of the virus worldwide, and more.

Additionally, President Trump declared a national emergency and announced other measures to address the coronavirus pandemic. The national emergency declaration will free up billions of dollars for state and local use as they fight the virus on the ground. He also announced the Administration will be taking action to give health care providers more flexibility, promote the use of telehealth, address student loans, improve testing with public-private partnerships, and more.

Over the weekend, the House passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act in a bipartisan fashion.  While the legislation is not perfect, it's important because it achieves free testing for all Americans, funds nutrition assistance programs, establishes paid sick leave for employees who have to stay home due to the coronavirus, increases assistance to local health systems, provides funding to expand unemployment insurance benefits, and more.

Here are a few key facts on the bill I voted in support of on Saturday:
