This Week on Buddy's Briefing |
This week, the House approved legislation I introduced to prevent scams during the COVID-19 pandemic. As America works to combat the coronavirus, students have been scammed when seeking financial relief, there have been court orders halting operators of fake websites claiming to sell Clorox and Lysol products, the FTC has sent warning letters to marketers regarding unsupported claims about products that can be used to treat or prevent COVID-19, and more.
The Combating Pandemic Scams Act will require the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the Internet Crime Complaint Center (ICCC) to inform the public about the scams that have been reported. With this knowledge, the public can better avoid scams and protect themselves.
Also this week, we received good news on a COVID-19 vaccine. We discuss this and more in this episode of Buddy's Briefing.
