House Passes Measure to Increase Weapons Training Capabilities at Fort Stewart

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States House of Representatives today passed the Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill with Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter's (Ga-01) support. This legislation includes $14.8 million for an automated qualification training range to allow Fort Stewart to expand their weapons training capabilities.

"Our soldiers deserve to be the most well equipped in the world,"
Carter said. "Fort Stewart is  already uniquely equipped to deliver a devastating blow to our adversaries world-wide with its vast training areas and modern facilities. The legislation passed today will increase these training capabilities and cement Fort Stewart's ability to prepare the 3rd Infantry Division for the increasing dangers and challenges they face."

The Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill provides $81.6 billion in discretionary funding to house, train, and equip military personnel, provide housing and services to military families, and help maintain base infrastructure. The bill also funds veterans' benefits and programs.

Carter represents Fort Stewart in the United States House of Representatives.
