Tuesday, May 4, 2021: As many of you know, I participated in the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials and made a 26 month commitment to complete the study. I have a follow up visit this morning for a blood draw. Aside from very minor symptoms after my second shot that lasted less than 24 hours, I have not experienced any symptoms or side effects and am convinced the vaccine is both safe and effective. A link to a video I made promoting the COVID-19 vaccine can be found here. Afterwards, I head to our Savannah district office and join in on our all staff conference call before joining in on a virtual call with NORPAC, a group working to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship. Next, I join in on a virtual call with Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions as we discuss commonsense, conservative solutions to address our nation’s need for clean, reliable energy before joining in on an E&C Health Subcommittee hearing on lowering the costs of prescription drugs. A link to my questions can be found here. Afterwards, I head to Caesarstone in Richmond Hill where I meet with Anna Chafin and Justin Farquhar of the Bryan County Development Authority, Richmond Hill Mayor Russ Carpenter, Council Member Steve Scholar, City Manager Chris Lovell and others, as we are given a tour of this great company that produces and markets quartz surfaces used for kitchen countertops, vanity tops, flooring, wall cladding and general interior design.

Wednesday, May 5, 2021: I’m up early this morning and live on Mornings with Maria on Fox Business as we discuss the situation surrounding the Republican Conference Chairperson as well as the situation at the southern border. A link to my interview can be found here. Afterwards, I head to Downtown Savannah where I am honored to speak to the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia (LPCA-GA) at their annual meeting. This organization represents over 7,000 Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) and Licensed Associate Professional Counselors (LAPC) in Georgia.

Next, I head to our Savannah district office where I meet with a group of constituents to discuss congressional issues before heading to Port Wentworth in Chatham County where I meet with my life-long friend, Mayor Gary Norton, Mayor Pro-Temp Linda Smith and City Manager Edwin Booth to discuss federal issues. After a great meeting, I head back to my Savannah district office where I meet with The Georgia Consul General of India, Dr. Swati Vijay Kulkarni. I have met with the Consul General on many occasions and find her to be a most delightful person who is dedicated to building a strong relationship between the U. S. and India. Next, I have a live interview on Outside the Beltway with John Fredericks to discuss the FairTax legislation that I am sponsoring. After meeting with a constituent to discuss a health care issue, I have the honor of speaking to students from the University of Maryland Pharmacy School and share with them my pathway from pharmacy to public service. Next, I am live on Spicer and Co. on Newsmax along with my House colleague, Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), another member of the Doctors Caucus, as we discuss the latest on the COVID-19 vaccine.
Thursday, May 6, 2021: Today I participate in an E&C C&T Subcommittee hearing where we are discussing ways to address the disparities in access and affordability of high speed internet service. During this hearing I am focused on the disparities between municipal governments being involved in broadband as opposed to the private sector. As a former mayor, I believe that municipalities must be very cautious as they enter this market. A link to my questions can be found here.
Friday, May 7, 2021: I’m up early this morning and on St. Simons Island in Glynn County as I speak to the Golden Isles Association of Realtors at their monthly breakfast meeting. The real estate market is experiencing one of their busiest times these days, but the realtors are very concerned about the future and policies coming from Washington that could impact their business. After bringing them up to date on recent legislation and policies, including provisions from the American Rescue Plan and an update on National Flood Insurance Program, I participate in a question- and-answer session with them.

Saturday, May 8, 2021: I'm back in Glynn County today as I attend the Brunswick Downtown Development Authority's Annual Blessing of the Fleet held at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. The Blessing of the Fleet is a centuries-old tradition that originated in southern European fishing communities and was first held in Brunswick on May 8, 1938. Over the years the Blessing of the Fleet has had name changes and a festival has been added, but the intention of the blessing has remained the same: to ask for protection of the sailors and for them to bring in a bountiful harvest.
