Four Key Facts
House Democrats officially started the next phase of their impeachment sham this week. However, as my colleagues on the other side of the aisle charge forward, there are some key facts that are important to remember.

1. We have all seen the call transcript at the root of this inquiry. The transcript of the call shows no discussion of military aid or conditionality.

2. Both leaders - President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky have said there was no pressure.

3. Ukraine did not know the aid had not been released at the time of the call.

4. The aid was released, and Ukraine did not have to take any action for the aid to flow.

There is no basis for impeachment but House Democrats continue to waste time by holding hearings with witnesses that only have second hand knowledge of the situation.

From our nation's capitol CCXLII
Monday, November 11, 2019: While today is officially recognized as Veterans Day, every day is Veterans Day.  Last night, I had the honor of attending the Veterans Day banquet at the American Legion George K. Gammon Post 184 in Thunderbolt in Chatham County and present a flag flown over the US Capitol to Veteran of the Year MSGT G. John Parker, USAF (Ret.) USMC veteran and Firefighter/Fire Chief (Ret.). The keynote speaker for this special event was Mr. Alex Kershaw, historian, journalist and author of NYT bestselling WWII histories and the 2019 Honorary Parade Marshal.  The meeting ended with the singing of God Bless America led by Paul Grassey, LT, WWII veteran and B-24 Pilot of Mighty 8th Air Force.

This morning I’m at my home church, Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church in Savannah for our annual Veterans Day breakfast where we honor our veterans and enjoy a great presentation by Dr. Ted Moore reviewing his trip to Normandy, France, earlier this year.  Afterwards, I head to St. Simons Island (SSI) in Glynn County where I walk down Mallery Street in the Golden Isles Veterans Day parade in beautiful weather before taking part in their annual Golden Isles Veterans Day program at the St. Simons Casino building at Neptune Park.

After a great time spent with some of our heroes, I head to Hinesville where I spend more time with some of our heroes in the 10th Annual Liberty County Veterans Day parade sponsored by the East Liberty County American Legion Post 321.  We are blessed in the First Congressional District to have communities who support our troops and veterans and there is no greater example of this than the Hinesville/Liberty County community.  On my way back to Pooler I have a conference call with Canadian Consulate General Nadia Theodore to discuss the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA) and its prospects for passage by the House.

Tuesday, November 12, 2019: After an early morning flight back to Washington, I spend the remainder of the morning working in my office before I have a meeting with The Faith & Politics Institute’s (FPI) President and CEO, Ms. Joan Mooney, who shares with me the work of FPI and their signature Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage to Alabama every year.

Rep. Carter meeting with the Kids Shouldn’t Have Cancer Foundation
Next, I meet with Kimberly Wade, the Founder and President of the Kids Shouldn’t Have Cancer Foundation who shares with me the story of her son, Johnny, who suffered from brain cancer and unfortunately passed away on Christmas Eve in 2015.  Afterwards, I meet with the Executive Director of the National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA), Michael Reff, to discuss co-pay accumulators and health care purchase coalitions, before we have our weekly staff briefing.  Next, I head to the House Visitors Center for our weekly GOP Conference meeting before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the week.  After votes, I remain in the House Chamber and pay tribute to the Habersham School in Savannah for winning the State Volleyball Championship this year.  A link to my tribute can be found here.

Wednesday, November 13, 2019: My first meeting this morning is with Resurgens leadership, a group of physicians from Georgia who are in Washington this week to advocate for health care.  Among their concerns are the high student debt load that medical students are incurring, surprise billing and prior approvals.  Afterwards, I head to an Energy and Commerce (E&C) Health Subcommittee markup where we consider four pieces of legislation including a bill addressing maternal mortality that I am the lead Republican sponsor on. A link to my comments on this important legislation can be found here

Rep. Carter presents a proclamation to the principal and assistant principals of Pierce County High School
Next, I meet with the President and CEO of the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), Melissa Hockstad, to discuss cleaning product ingredient labelling legislation, before meeting with representatives from Oceana for a very productive discussion on offshore energy in which we talk about my letter last spring to the Interior Secretary, following the Georgia Legislature’s vote, asking Georgia to be removed from consideration from offshore drilling.  Before heading to a meeting of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC), I have an on-camera interview with WTOC TV in Savannah to discuss the impeachment inquiry.  A link to my interview can be found here.  Next, I head to a Whip Team meeting where we discuss the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) reauthorization before heading back to my office to present a proclamation to the principal and assistant principals of Pierce County High School congratulating them on being chosen as a blue-ribbon school.  Afterwards, I head to the Cannon Rotunda where I have three separate on-camera interviews to discuss the impeachment inquiries including one with WSAV TV in Savannah.  A link to that interview can be found here

Once back in my office, I meet with representatives from Bring Our Troops Home before heading to the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) in the House Visitors Center for a classified briefing for E&C members by the Department of Energy (DOE).  Next, I head to a Whip Team member briefing on the impeachment inquiry before heading to the House Chamber for our first and only vote series of the day.  Afterwards, I head downtown where I have the opportunity to address the Leadership Georgia group that is in town visiting and join them later for a visit with the Ambassador of Japan at the Japanese Ambassador's Residence.

Thursday, November 14, 2019: After meeting with representatives from the Community Oncology Alliance, I head to an E&C Consumer Protection and Commerce (CPAC) Subcommittee markup where we consider two bills, including one that I am the lead sponsor on reauthorizing Brand USA.  A link to my comments on this important legislation can be found here

Rep. Carter meeting with BAPS
Afterwards, I head back to my office where I meet with my good friend, Rick Desai, and other representatives of BAPS, before meeting with representatives from the Society for Human Resource Management.  Next, I head to the House Chamber for our first and only vote series of the day and afterwards head to a Select Committee on Climate Change member day hearing where we hear from our House colleagues who are not on the committee but want to share their input on the subject.  Once back in my office, I meet with Steve Senneff, President of Remedy Partners, a leading provider of software and services for bundle billing in health care.  Next, I meet with representatives from the Navy League including my good friend from Savannah, Tom Wright, and afterwards meet with representatives from Credit Interlink to learn about the many services they offer.

My last stop of the day is the Ways and Means Committee hearing room where the House Intelligence Committee has been holding the impeachment hearings and where I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefings.  A link to this can be found above this column.

Friday, November 15, 2019: I’m in the House Chamber bright and early this morning as I deliver a tribute to the 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield whose unit participated in the elimination of ISIS leader al-Baghdadi recently.  A link to my tribute can be found here.  Afterwards, I head back to my office where I meet with Kennesaw State University President Pamela Whitten and hear of the great work they are doing at what now is the third largest university in Georgia.  After catching up on some work in my office, I head back to the House Chamber where we have our last vote series of the week.
