Buddy's Briefing

On this week's edition of Buddy's Briefing, we discuss the horrific terror attack on the Australian Jewish community during the first night of Hanukkah.

from our nation's capitol CDXCXLVI

Monday, December 15, 2025: This past Saturday, I was in Jefferson in Jackson County as I was honored to address the Jackson County GOP at their monthly meeting. Located north of Athens in northeast Georgia, Jefferson is the county seat of Jackson County, a county that was formed in 1796 and named in honor of Revolutionary War Lieutenant Colonel, Congressman, Senator and Governor James Jackson. Afterwards, I headed to Winder, the county seat of Barrow County located between Athens and Atlanta, where I was honored to participate in the 76th Annual Christmas Parade and Santa’s After Party. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade was City Council member Sonny Marshall, who will be retiring this year following 40 years of service on the Winder City Council. On Sunday, I attended the Mars Hill Community Church in Powder Springs west of metro Atlanta where Pastor Tom Gray delivered a great message and afterwards drove home to St. Simons in Glynn County to attend our Sunday School class Christmas party. After spending 40 wonderful years as members of the Ivy Sunday School class at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church in Savannah, Amy and I are blessed to have found a new home with the Agape Sunday School class at Wesley Church at Frederica on St. Simons Island. After flying back to Washington this morning, I’m in our office this afternoon and meet with our legislative team followed by a meeting with our communications team before I head to the House Chamber to speak on H.R. 923. This is a resolution sponsored by Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV) honoring the service and sacrifice of U. S. Army specialist Sarah Beckstrom and U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe who, in an act of terrorism on November 26th in Washington, DC, were killed and critically injured. Once back in our office, I have a meeting with our scheduling staff followed by a virtual meeting with our communications consultant. After a virtual meeting with our district team, I complete my ethics training that is required of all members of Congress once a year. Next, I participate in a tele town hall meeting that is sponsored by Americans For Prosperity (AFP) and where we bring constituents up to date on Washington issues and take their comments and questions. Afterwards, I head to our weekly Whip Team meeting before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the week and pay tribute afterwards to Fred Gretsch who this year is celebrating his 60th year in the music business. Headquartered in Savannah now, Gretsch music was founded in Brooklyn in 1883 and is still famous for “That Great Gretsch Sound” like guitars (like Chet Atkins models) and drums used by legendary artists like The Beatles, U2, and Bo Diddley. Next, I head off Capitol Hill to a Main Street Caucus meeting.

Tuesday, December 16, 2025: I’m up early and downtown at the Fox Studios as I have a live interview on Mornings With Maria as we discuss health care issues and the shootings in Australia and at Brown University. Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to our weekly GOP Conference meeting before heading to the House Chamber where I pay tribute to the refurbished B2 bomber Spirit of Georgia, Augusta University Athletes Elyse Autrey and Stefan Jacobs, Tybee Island as the number 1 winter fishing spot and Colleen Lindholz, President of Kroger Health for 30 years of service. Next, I head to an Energy and Commerce (E&C) Communications and Technology (C&T) Subcommittee hearing and afterwards meet in our office with representatives from the Classic Learning Test (CLT), a college admissions exam. Next, I join in on an all staff conference call before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day and afterwards head to a Budget Committee roundtable discussion with Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright. Afterwards, I head back to the House Chamber where I speak on H.R. 3632, the Power Plant Reliability Act of 2025, and remain in the chamber for our second vote series of the day. After staying in the chamber to speak in favor of the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act, I head off Capitol Hill for a couple of meetings.

Wednesday, December 17, 2025: I’m back off Capitol Hill this morning as I have a meeting with a representative from the bar pilots association before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day. Staying in the House Chamber, I speak in favor of H.R. 6703, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act, during debate on the bill. After another meeting off Capitol Hill, I’m back in our office where I have a virtual meeting with a refrigeration company to discuss EPA regulations. Next, I film portions of our Christmas special video before having a meeting with staff to discuss upcoming legislation and then joining in on a virtual call with staff from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for an update on their work on pharmacy issues. After heading off Capitol Hill for a series of meetings, I head back to our office where I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing and then head to the House Chamber for our final vote series of the day and pay tribute to Lowndes County in honor of their 200th anniversary.

Thursday, December 18, 2025: After a member meeting with the Budget committee to discuss our plans for next year, I head to the House Chamber where I speak on H.R. 4776, the SPEED Act, a bill that we pass later on in the day that brings about much needed permitting reform. Next, I head back to our office where I meet with a constituent to discuss government contracts dealing with broadband before heading to an E&C Environment Subcommittee hearing on PFAS chemicals. Afterwards, I have a phone interview with Politico to discuss health care issues before meeting with our White House liaison who, much to his credit, comes to our office to pay up on his loosing bet in the SEC Championship game where his pitiful Alabama Crimson Tide were pummeled by the Georgia Bulldogs. Later, I head to the airport where I fly to Atlanta for a meeting with area business leaders.
