Trump Administration’s War on Fraud

President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance are unleashing an unrelenting, full-scale assault on the fraudsters, scammers, and corrupt operators who have looted billions from American taxpayers. The White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud is moving at unprecedented speed and ferocity to root out the waste, abuse, and criminal exploitation of government programs that have drained billions from hardworking taxpayers.

From Our Nation’s Capitol

Monday, May 25, 2026: Today is Memorial Day, a day to honor all who have given their lives in defense of our country. As Abraham Lincoln said years ago, “From these honored dead we take increased devotion; that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.” Last night, I attended one of the many ceremonies that were held around our district this weekend. For many years I have attended the Memorial Day program sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans  of America in downtown Savannah where this year’s Guest Speaker was United States Four Star General Robert Magnus who served as the 30th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from September 8, 2005, to July 2, 2008, and retired from active duty on July 17, 2008, after 38 years of total service. Included in this great service was music from the 3rd ID Brass Quintet, the Laying of the Wreath by General Magnus and President Lionel Marmalejo, playing of Taps and the reading of the 106 Names of the Men that Gave their Lives in the Vietnam War from the Savannah area and laying a rose in honor of each of them. It was truly a moving experience. This morning, I’m in Bloomingdale in West Chatham County where I attend their annual Memorial Day ceremony held at Veterans Freedom Park. Led by Mayor Dennis Baxter, this year’s keynote speaker is LTC R U.S. Army Thomas Greene, who also serves on Bloomingdale’s City Council. Afterwards, I head to the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler where they host their annual “Flags for the Fallen” tribute and have the memorial garden transformed with 26,000 48-star American flags, honoring each airman of the unit lost during World War II. Along with current PooIer Mayor Karen Williams, I was honored to offer a few words at the ceremony and participate in the wreath laying. With over 90,000 square feet of exhibits, including a restored B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator and a Nazi flag from a POW camp, the museum offers thousands of artifacts, photographs, and oral histories from veterans as well as a chapel and a cafe. Later in the afternoon, I head home to St. Simons Island in Glynn County where I attend the Taps at Twilight Memorial Day Concert & Tribute held at Neptune Park overlooking the Brunswick Harbor. Sponsored annually since 1991 by the Rotary Club of St. Simons Island, this great program honors those who gave their lives in service, those who returned, and those who serve today. With music provided by the Golden Isles Community Concert Band, the keynote speaker this year is Col. Aaron L.B. Cox, Chief of Staff of the 3rd Infantry Division.

Wednesday, May 27, 2026: I’m up early and in Baxley in Appling County this morning as I join them in their ribbon cutting ceremony for their new police station. The Baxley Police Department (BPD) is led by Chief Jeffrey Taylor and operates within the municipal government framework to handle policing responsibilities within the city limits. As a former Mayor, I can attest to the importance of a strong public safety system within a city. First settled as a result of the Macon and Brunswick Railroad being built through Appling County, Baxley was named after one of the community’s first settlers, Wilson Baxley of North Carolina. Appling was established in 1818 and named for War of 1812 soldier Daniel Appling. Afterwards, I head to Savannah State University where I join President Dr. Jermaine Whirl and members of the Chatham County Legislative Delegation for a press conference announcing a state appropriation investment to support the University’s mission, infrastructure, and long-term strategic growth. Next, I join in on our all-staff conference call.

Thursday, May 28, 2026: I’m up early and on Jekyll Island at Tortuga Jacks this morning as I join Steve Doocy with Fox and Friends on their “For All America” RV road trip celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Jekyll Island is one of 14 barrier islands off the coast of Georgia and has a storied history. From the founding of the Federal Reserve System to the site of the first transcontinental phone call, Jekyll Island’s history spans thousands of years and was once a millionaire’s retreat owned by a group of elite American businessmen including J. P. Morgan, William Rockefeller, and Joseph Pulitzer. Next, I head to St. Marys in Camden County where I meet with Mayor Greg Lockhart, City Manager Mike Mahaney and Assistant City Manager Charlie Williams to discuss the rapid growth the city is experiencing. After a visit to the new City Hall that is currently under construction, I head to Westinghouse where I join Camden Joint Development Authority (JDA) President James Couglin for a tour. Next, I visit with Sugar Yadav to discuss a project she and her husband C.B. are working on before joining a group of community leaders for a meeting. Once back in Brunswick, I record this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing and later join the Brunswick/Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce at their business after hours meeting before heading to Jacksonville for a flight to Washington.

Friday, May 29, 2026: I’m up early this morning and live on Mornings with Maria on Fox Business as we discuss the conflict in Iran, gas prices and reconciliation. Once back in our office, I have a radio interview with my good friend, Scott Ryfun, on Straight Talk radio to discuss news of the day before heading to the Washington studios of Newsmax where I have a live interview to discuss the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.
