This week, Washington Democrats passed an impeachment resolution nearly 40 days after starting their impeachment inquiry.
Shockingly, with this vote, they've made their unfair, backroom inquiry even worse. This resolution gives House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff more power, limits member involvement even more, and again fails to give the President of the United States the due process he deserves.
The most egregious part of this vote, though, is that it will continue to waste the American people's time. The Senate has already said that impeachment is dead on arrival. Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff are preventing the House from doing real work to continue this witch hunt that is not going anywhere.
House Democrats have issued more subpoenas this Congress than bills signed into law under their leadership. It's clear that their priority is overturning the 2016 election, not working to improve the lives of Americans.
We have all seen the transcript. We have all seen the whistleblower report. There is nothing there. This must end now.

Monday, October 28, 2019: After attending the City Championship football game in Glynn County on Friday night, I stayed in the area overnight and on Saturday morning attended the First District GOP meeting in McIntosh County before flying out of Jacksonville to San Diego, CA, where I was a keynote speaker at the annual National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) convention over the weekend. I attended a number of events at the convention including a meeting of the Long-Term Care Advisory Council, the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Association, Pharmacy Compounding Centers of America (PCAA), the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy Alumni, and the Washington State College of Pharmacy Alumni.

Next, I head back to my office for a meeting with DaVita’s Executive Chairman of the Board, Kent Thiry, before heading to a Whip Team member meeting to discuss the sham impeachment inquiry being held by the Democrats. Afterwards, I head back to my office for an on-camera interview with WTOC-TV and WSAV-TV in Savannah to discuss the two E&C bills that I authored dealing with lowering prescription drug prices that passed the House yesterday. Rep. Carter and House Members recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month |
After votes, I head to the Rayburn Room adjacent to the House Chamber for a photo with other House members to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Thursday, October 31, 2019: After filming this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefings in the E&C Committee room, I have a phone conference with leadership of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to discuss the current drug shortage of Vincristine, a pediatric cancer medication. As the only pharmacist currently serving in Congress, our office has received a number of calls regarding the shortage. After reviewing the situation with the FDA and being assured the shortage has been rectified, I head to the House Chamber for what turns out to be one of the most momentous vote series in recent history. For only the fourth time in our nation’s history, the Democrats pass a resolution that officially calls for an impeachment inquiry of President Donald J. Trump.

House Republicans discuss the impeachment vote |
After this sham process is passed with bipartisan opposition- all Republicans and two Democrats voted against the resolution - I join many of my Republican colleagues in the Rayburn room for a press conference to address this extremely disappointing development before heading to the airport for my return trip home. Once I land in Savannah, I have on camera interviews with WJCL-TV and WSAV-TV in Savannah to discuss the impeachment vote. |
