Monday, March 23, 2026: This past Saturday, I was in Jackson, located south of Atlanta, as I had the privilege of speaking to the Butts County GOP at their monthly meeting. Jackson was founded in 1826 and was named for Governor James Jackson while Butts County was formed in 1825 and named for Captain Samuel Butts, an officer killed in the Creed War. Afterwards, I headed to Peachtree City in Fayette County about 25 miles southwest of Atlanta. Once in Peachtree City, I spoke at the Georgia Pharmacy Association’s (GPhA) Academy of Independent Pharmacy (AIP) Spring conference. AIP represents independent pharmacists in communities across the state of Georgia and is led by VP Jonathan Marquess, PharmD. After a great meeting, I headed to Watkinsville in Oconee County near Athens, where I was honored to speak at the ‘Oconee Stomping Ground’ sponsored by the Oconee County Republican Party. This was the first of what will be an annual event where political candidates have the opportunity to ‘stump,’ or speak directly to voters. Next, I headed to the MAGA Ball in Alpharetta in northern Fulton County. Hosted by the Fulton County Republican Party (FCRP), this gala event is a high-profile gathering for local conservatives to network and celebrate the party’s platform. The keynote speaker for this year’s event was My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of worshipping at Hamilton Mill Christian Church in Buford in Gwinnett County with my good friend Auburn Mayor Rick Roquemore. Hamilton Mill, led by Pastor Tim Wallingford, is part of the independent Christian Church/Churches of Christ tradition, a movement that emphasizes New Testament teachings, congregational independence, and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. After flying back from Atlanta yesterday evening, I’m home on St. Simons Island this morning and join friends from the Glynn County GOP at a coffee on the island at the Village Inn & Pub. Afterwards, I head to Brunswick to visit and tour Nephrology of the Golden Isles and learn more about the great work they do at this facility. Specializing in diagnosing and managing kidney disease and hypertension, offering services from early-stage disease management to dialysis and transplantation support. Afterwards, I fly back to Atlanta and, once at the airport, I have an interview with Fox News to discuss the long wait times at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) lines due to the Democrat shutdown of our Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Afterwards, I have a call with a constituent who is a member of the Georgia Auto Dealers Association (GADA) about pending legislation before having a conference call with our district staff followed by a training session with our communications consultant. Next, I head to Flowery Branch in Hall County near Lake Lanier northeast of Atlanta for the 9th District U.S. Senate Debate among the Republican candidates seeking their party’s nomination. Before the debate, I have an interview with Spectrum to discuss the race and the top issues Georgians care about.

Friday, March 27, 2026: As many of you know, I stay in my office at the Capitol where we have a member’s gym that we use in the mornings to get ready for the day. The buzz in the gym this morning revolves around the actions of the Senate in the early morning hours around 3 a.m. when they passed a DHS funding bill that excluded pay for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).
