A Vaccine
We received good news from Pfizer this week on a COVID-19 vaccine. They announced that a vaccine candidate was found to be more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19. If this vaccine is approved by the FDA, we will have 100 million doses ready for distribution thanks to the public-private partnership through Operation Warp Speed.

I am confident that when the FDA approves a vaccine it will be both safe and effective. I'm even participating in a Pfizer vaccine trial to prove it. I spoke about this and more on Fox Business this week.

This week on Buddy's Briefing
This week on Buddy's Briefing we discuss honoring our heroes on Veterans Day. Veterans deserve to be honored each and every day. God bless our veterans and God bless America.

from our nation's capitol CCLXXXIX
Monday, November 9, 2020:  Last week was election week and, although much of my time was spent with the campaign, I had a number of great visits throughout the district including a tour of the Ford Plantation and other developments in Richmond Hill led by Downtown Development Authority Chairperson Georgene Brazer.

Wednesday, November 11, 2020:  Yes, today we celebrate Veterans Day, but really every day is Veterans Day.  I’m honored today to participate in the annual Chatham County Veterans Day Parade that is being held this year in my hometown of Port Wentworth.

Rep. Carter at the Chatham County Veterans Day Parade
I’m glad the City of Port Wentworth agreed to host the parade this year and, judging by the great turnout, people were very appreciative.  Next, I head to our Brunswick Office in Glynn County where I meet with a couple of constituents who are concerned about consumer credit protection legislation.  Afterwards, I head to the College of Coastal Georgia where I meet with President Michele Johnson before attending the Veterans Academic Learning Opportunities and Resources (VALOR) Veterans Day ceremony held on campus.  I am honored to deliver the keynote address at this great event and take the opportunity to thank the College of Coastal Georgia for their work with our Veterans as they have been named a Yellow Ribbon School as one of the best colleges for vets.

Rep. Carter at the Golden Isles Veteran's Village groundbreaking ceremony
Afterwards, I head to the Golden Isles Veteran’s Village groundbreaking ceremony in downtown Brunswick.  Once completed, this Tiny House project will be a safe place for veterans to lift themselves up and become self-sufficient and self-sustaining.  Next, I head back to Pooler and once back home I have a live radio interview with Larry O’Connor, who hosts a popular show in the Washington, DC area, to discuss the Georgia Secretary of State’s decision to require a hand recount of ballots in the State of Georgia.  Later, I have the honor of speaking virtually to Students for Life, a pro-life group at the University of Georgia.

Thursday, November 12, 2020:  Today is Academy Day, the day that students from the First District who are interested in receiving an appointment to a military service academy go through the interview process.  The interviews are held at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler and I am blessed to be assisted by a great board who perform the interviews for me.  The board consists of those with military experience and those without and those who attended one of the military academies and those who did not.

Rep. Carter at Academy Day
The students come from throughout the district and all are truly phenomenal young men and women who are very deserving of an appointment.  After welcoming the students and thanking the board for their service, I head to the Salvation Army Family Thrift Store in Savannah and, during the drive, I join in on our daily all staff conference call.  Once at the Salvation Army, I join the staff in announcing the receipt of a $500,000 grant from the CARES Act to help renovate their thrift store and community center.

Rep. Carter receives the Guardian of Small Business Award from NFIB

Friday, November 13, 2020:   After attending our weekly Band of Brothers meeting in Garden City where we are finally meeting again, albeit with social distancing and a limited number of people allowed, I stay in Garden City where I attend the renaming ceremony of the Kicklighter Overpass on Hwy 80 near the Farmers Market.

Rep. Carter at the renaming ceremony of the Kicklighter Overpass
The renaming resolution, sponsored in the Georgia House of Representatives by Rep. Carl Gilliard (D-Sav), is named in honor of the Kicklighter family in Garden City.  Dean Kicklighter is a former Mayor of Garden City and long-time Chatham County Commissioner while his mother Bessie, is Mayor pro-tem of Garden City.  Dean’s father, Randell, was a successful small businessman for many years before his untimely passing a few years ago. The renaming of the overpass to the Kicklighter Overpass is richly deserved. Later in the day I have a radio interview with Breitbart News to discuss the vote recount and Senate run off races in Georgia.
