Demanding an investigation into the wuhan lab |
|
This week, I joined more than 200 of my colleagues to demand investigations into the Wuhan lab. China allowed this virus to spread and they need to be held accountable. We need to fully understand what happened and make sure it never happens again.
In our letter to Speaker Pelosi we wrote, "we request that you instruct the appropriate Democrat committee chairs to immediately join Republican calls to hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for its role in causing the global COVID-19 pandemic. There is mounting evidence the pandemic started in a Chinese lab, and the CCP covered it up. If that is the case, the CCP is responsible for the deaths of almost 600,000 Americans and millions more worldwide. These questions about the CCP’s liability are not a diversion, as you falsely claimed. To the contrary, every American family that lost someone deserves answers about the origin of this terrible virus, and House Democrats’ ongoing refusal to allocate investigative resources to get those answers is an affront to them.
Repeatedly, House Republicans called for a full investigation to address the CCP’s complicity in obscuring the origins of COVID-19. Repeatedly, our requests were ignored. Instead, House Democrats pursued a radical left-wing agenda that is pushing the economy toward the highest inflation rates since 1979. Indeed, in March 2020, Democrat Whip James Clyburn set the tone when he told House Democrats the pandemic represented “a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision.” Now, more than one year later, Democrats have a record of pushing partisan extremist priorities with no connection to COVID-19 relief, while alarmingly shielding the CCP from scrutiny. After more than a year of inaction in light of mounting evidence against the CCP, it raises serious questions as to why House Democrats continue to cover for the CCP’s lies and obfuscation."

this week on BUddy's Briefing |
|
Also this week, I introduced legislation to prohibit sending federal funds to states that provide assistance to illegal immigrants. I want to stop states from giving your hard-earned tax dollars to illegal immigrants. Especially as we face a crisis at the border, it acts as a magnet to pull more illegal immigrants.
We discuss this and more in this episode of Buddy's Briefing.

Monday, May 24, 2021: I’m in our Savannah District Office this morning as I join in on our all staff conference call before meeting with Chatham County Commissioner Aaron “Adot” Whitely. A retired U.S. Army medic and Savannah State University graduate, Commissioner Whitely took office earlier this year representing the 6th District. Next, I have a virtual call with iHeartMedia local radio stations where we discuss issues of interest and I have the opportunity to thank them for the invaluable services they and other local media provide with public service announcements during natural disasters and the pandemic. Afterwards, I have a virtual call with Ball Corporation’s Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Hayes to discuss recycling provisions being considered in the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee that I serve on. After a meeting with a constituent in Downtown Savannah to discuss port logistic issues, I head to Richmond Hill in Bryan County where I meet with Raydient Places, the real estate arm of Rayonier, as they give me an overview of the exciting plans for the Belfast area near the new Belfast Keller I-95 interchange.

Buddy meeting with Raydient Places |
This area will surely provide an economic boom to South Bryan County with residential, commercial and industrial growth. It is truly a great example of how well a public-private partnership can work as the City of Richmond Hill, Bryan County, the State of Georgia and the federal government, along with Rayonier, have all played an important role in bringing this project to fruition. Next, I head to Hinesville in Liberty County where I meet with my good friend, Sheriff Will Bowman and members of his staff, to discuss law enforcement issues in our state and country.

It is important for me to visit with our partners in law enforcement and assure them that I “back the blue.”
Tuesday, May 25, 2021: I’m in Savannah this morning for an early breakfast with my good friend Byron Colley and others as we discuss education issues in our state and country. Parents are genuinely, and rightfully, concerned about the educational system in our country and I am glad people like Byron are involved and advocating for their beliefs. Later in the morning, I head to our Savannah office where I join in on an E&C Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee hearing on legislation to ensure drinking water is safe and clean. A link to my questions can be found here. Next, I head to the airport for a trip to Atlanta and a meeting later in the afternoon with my former House colleague and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Wednesday, May 26, 2021: I’m up early this morning as I am live on Fox and Friends to discuss new legislation I have introduced to stop states from funding illegal immigrants. A link to my interview can be found here. After a meeting in the area, I join in on our all staff conference call before speaking virtually to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs during their member day to encourage them to support legislation I have before their committee. A link to my comments can be found here. Next, I join in on an E&C Oversight and Investigations (O&I) hearing on building COVID-19 vaccine confidence. A link to my questions can be found here. After a virtual call with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and my good friend Marty Daniel, I host a small business roundtable with small business owners around the state as we discuss the proposed tax increases of the Biden Administration and the potential devastating impact on their businesses.

Next, I meet with my good friends with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates before heading to another meeting in the metro Atlanta area. Later in the evening, I’m live on Newsmax as I discuss my legislation to stop states from funding illegal immigrants as well as President Biden’s radical and incompetent Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) nominee David Chipman. A link to my interview can be found here.
Thursday, May 27, 2021: I’m on the road headed to Dublin this morning and, on the way, I make a stop in Stockbridge in Henry County where I have a great visit with Andrew Abbott with the Georgia Young Republicans.

Buddy meeting with the Dublin-Laurens County Chamber of Commerce |
This is a great group of energetic young people with 17 chapters statewide and growing. Once in Dublin, I head to the Dublin-Laurens County Chamber of Commerce (COC) where I speak briefly before we hear from my good friends, State Senator Larry Walker and State Representative Matt Hatchett, as they give a recap of the recently completed state legislative session. Afterwards, I head to the Carl Vinson VA Center where I meet with Dublin VA Director David Whitmer and his staff. The First Congressional District is serviced by three different regions of the VA with Dublin serving the Brunswick area. I am excited to hear of the new VA facility presently being constructed in Brunswick and look forward to its completion in the near future. Afterwards, I film Buddy’s Briefing outside of the facility as well as a video for Memorial Day before joining in on a Select Committee on Climate Change member level roundtable discussing five critical minerals.

After joining in on a GOP Conference call, I head to a meeting with Dublin Mayor Phil Best, who will be retiring this Fall. After still more meetings in the area, I head back north to Macon where I stay the night.
Friday, May 28, 2021: I’m in Macon this morning and on the radio with my good friend, John Fredericks, as we discuss a number of issues including President Biden’s proposed tax increases. Next, I’m on the radio with another good friend, Martha Zoller, as we discuss a number of topics including President Biden’s proposed tax increases. Later, I meet with State Senator John Kennedy (R-Macon), who serves as the GOP Caucus Chair in the Georgia State Senate before heading back to Savannah. During the drive home I have a phone interview with Inside Health Policy to discuss legislation I have that will create a pilot program to assist states in setting up their own stock supply systems to complement the federal stockpiles. |
