This year on Tax Day, money is being put back into the pockets of millions of hardworking Americans because of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. Families across the country are seeing bigger refunds – keeping more of what they earn.

Every single Democrat in both the House and Senate voted no on this bill. That means Jon Ossoff fought to raise your taxes and voted against letting you keep more of your hard-earned money. Not to worry, Republicans stood up for the American people, passing President Donald Trump’s tax policies, which delivered the largest tax cuts in American history. The choice was simple: higher taxes or more money for working families. I chose the American worker.

This tax season, the results speak for themselves. According to the IRS, refunds are the highest they’ve been in years, averaging over $3,400, or 11% higher than last year. 

53 million Americans (45% of all filers) are benefiting from at least one of President Trump’s signature new tax cuts. That includes more than 6 million Americans benefiting from No Tax on Tips, who claim an average deduction of $7,100. Over 25 million have benefited from No Tax on Overtime, and over 30 million seniors have claimed a deduction from No Tax on Social Security. 

Servers who depend on tips, overtime workers, and seniors are keeping more of their pay. President Trump’s policies are helping real workers who continue to show up and fuel the American economy. They deserve to feel prioritized. One Georgia resident in particular was able to afford to modify her home to be handicap-friendly for her husband because of the tax policies. Real people, real relief. Republicans are ensuring that hard work is rewarded and that families are supported.

This tax season is great because of three things: lower taxes, bigger refunds, and more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans. 

Monday, April 13, 2026: It was a pleasure to be in Centerville in Houston County on Saturday as I was honored to speak to the Houston County GOP at their monthly meeting. Centerville is located between Macon and Warner Robbins in central Georgia and was incorporated in 1958. Houston County was formed in 1821 and named for Governor John Houston. Afterwards, I went to Griffin in Spalding County for a candidate meet & greet held alongside an antique car show. Located about 40 miles south of Atlanta, Griffin is known for its historic downtown and filming location for movies and TV shows like The Walking Dead and The Hunger Games. Named for former U.S. Representative and Senator Thomas Spalding, Spalding County was created in 1851. Later in the afternoon, I head to Athens in Clarke County where I attended the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Athens Chapter banquet. As part of a nationwide network of more than 500 volunteer-led chapters dedicated to supporting wildlife conservation and hunting heritage, the organization works to ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitats. On Sunday, I was privileged to worship at Oakland Heights Baptist Church in Cartersville in Bartow County located Northwest of Atlanta. Founded by English-Americans in 1832 and originally known as Birmingham, the present name of the town is in honor of Col. Farish Carter of Milledgeville, the owner of a large plantation. Oakland Heights Baptist Church is committed to making disciples and centers its teaching on the authority of Scripture. Later in the day, I flew home to St. Simons Island. Today, I am honored to speak at the Coastal Area Republican Women’s luncheon held at Epworth by the Sea in Glynn County.  This great group of patriotic women are led by longtime resident Ruby Robinson who has served in many public capacities during her time here. Next, I head to Baxley in Appling County where I visit Triple Crown Trailers and Down 2 Earth Trailers, two prominent manufacturers headquartered at the same industrial site. Triple Crown Trailers was founded in 1983 and produces a variety of NATM-certified utility, car and hydraulic dump trailers. Down 2 Earth Trailers was founded in 1999 and is a high-volume producer, rolling out more than 1,000 trailers per month. Next, I head to Barnes Pharmacy. After visiting my friends at Barnes Pharmacy, I head to FNB Bank where I meet with my good friend Zack Johnson and other leaders from the area before heading to the Appling Candidate forum sponsored by the Appling County GOP.

Tuesday, April 14, 2026: After catching an early flight back to Washington this morning, I’m back in our office this afternoon and begin with a meeting with our legislative staff followed by our all staff conference call. Next, I head downtown where I speak to the National Retail Independent Advisory Board at their annual meeting hosted by Cardinal Health and bring them up to date on healthcare issues. Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to a member meeting of the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Committee as we discuss our plans for upcoming legislation. Once back in our office, I meet with Heartland Forward, a group dedicated to accelerating a national campaign on maternal and infant health. Next, I have a virtual interview with WTOC TV in Savannah to discuss tax day and the benefits of the Working Families Tax Cut Act before having a live interview on Newsmax to discuss the same subject matter. Next, I head to our weekly Whip Team meeting before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the week. Afterwards, I head to a meeting of the Republican Main Street Caucus (RMSC) where we hear from White House Director of Political Affairs Matt Brasseaux.

Wednesday, April 15, 2026: I’m off Capitol Hill this morning as I head downtown to speak to the National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA) and bring them up to date on the Consolidated Appropriations Act, the most significant prescription drug pricing reform legislation that we have ever passed and had signed into law. Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to our weekly GOP Conference meeting before heading to an E&C Health Subcommittee hearing on Making America Healthy Again (MAHA). Next, I head to our office where I meet with the CEO of Zodoc, a company offering an online service that allows people to find and book in-person or telemedicine appointments for medical or dental care. After meeting with Water and Wastewater professionals from Georgia, I head to Technovation on the Hill, sponsored by Phillip Morris International (PMI) that highlights their innovation and smoke free vision. After heading back to our office and meeting with Georgia Life Sciences to discuss their great work in innovation, I head off Capitol Hill for a meeting before heading to the House Chamber for votes. Once back in our office, I have an in-person interview with Punchbowl before meeting with our scheduling staff and then heading to a Republican Policy Committee Chair candidate forum and election. Later, I head off Capitol Hill where I speak to the Conservative Climate Foundation.

Thursday, April 16, 2026: After one of the best Doctor’s Caucus meetings that we’ve ever had where we hear from CEO’s of pharmaceutical manufacturers, I head back to our office where I meet with Joe Fowler with Common Thread Ministries. Joe visits the Capitol often and is one of three believers who pray for me together every week. Later, I head to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day and once I return to the office, I film this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefings and a series of reels. After meeting with the Association of Professional Rental Organizations (APRO), I head back to the House Chamber for another vote series, then back to our office where I meet with the United Motorcoach Association. Next, I meet with Georgia members of NCPA, followed by a meeting with Joe Ballard from the White House and a meeting with the President of Hyundai Motor Group, Sung Kim. The remainder of the afternoon is spent waiting for votes to be called as leadership attempts to figure out how to handle the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) reauthorization that has to be done before midnight tomorrow night.

Friday, April 17, 2026: We are finally called back to the House Chamber at 2 a.m. where we have three votes and two of them fail. We do, however, extend FISA for 10 days. Because of the disruption of our schedule, our originally scheduled vote series for later this morning is canceled and after our weekly E&C member meeting, I head to the airport for my flight to Atlanta.

Rep. Carter meets with Georgia Life Sciences

The city of Rome was built on seven hills, just like Rome, Italy, and local leaders intentionally chose the name to reflect that parallel. The hills overlook the convergence of the Etowah and Oostanaula rivers, which come together there to form the Coosa River, giving the city both a symbolic and strategic foundation.
