Biden is dipping into our oil reserves as a political Hail Mary. Congress spent Friday discussing the decriminalization of marijuana. Maxine Waters is telling homeless people to “go home.” Schumer is pushing for student loan cancellations (again).
If this is how March ended, we are truly shaping up for an April of Fools.
I came to Congress because I wanted to help people. And right now, people need a lot of help.
Every day, I hear from First District residents who are struggling to fuel their cars, feed their families, and heat their homes. Inflation is expected to run the average family $5,200 this year alone.
Meanwhile, Congress is talking about marijuana.
Every night, when I turn on the TV, I see footage of innocent Ukrainians fleeing for their lives under the threat of Russian bombing. After a commercial break, a mother sobs as she lays to rest her child who died from a preventable fentanyl overdose.
And Congress is talking about marijuana.
Police officers are under assault. Parents are being labeled domestic terrorists for wanting a say in their child’s education.
But have no fear because Congress is talking about… marijuana.
This foolishness, this ignorance, this inaction must stop.
We need to come together as elected officials to deliver the aid that we promised our constituents when we ran for office. This means lowering gas prices, closing our southern border, permanently scheduling fentanyl, funding our military, and, just as importantly, funding our police.
Let’s make real change – our country depends on it.
