This week Speaker Pelosi continued her attempts to ram through her $3.5 trillion socialist agenda to destroy freedom and embolden our enemies, including the Taliban and the Chinese Communist Party.
The Left’s record spending is already raising prices on working families, and now they want to print more money to pay for their $3.5 trillion tax and spend spree that will only make rising costs worse and mortgage our children’s future.
The "Build More Inflation Act" will fundamentally change American life. This bill proposes $3 trillion in tax increases, the largest increase most of us have seen in our lifetimes.
The bottom line is the hardworking men and women of Georgia can’t afford the "Build More Inflation Act". Actions have consequences. President Biden's spending is out of control.
Printing more money, saddling future generations with debt, and raising taxes are detrimental to America's future. This is not the American way. I believe in the "American Dream." It is here in America that we can turn our dreams into a reality. Dreams to build a better life, work hard, and leave this country better off for our children. We cannot allow this promise to slip away from us. The freedom-loving men and women of Georgia deserve better, and that is exactly what I will continue to fight for.

Monday, September 13, 2021: After returning from the Competition with China conference in San Diego this past week and being home for less than 12 hours, I'm back at the airport this morning and headed to Washington. Once in Washington, I join in on our all-staff conference call before heading to an Energy and Commerce (E&C) full committee mark up on the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill that we Republicans refer to as the “Build More Inflation Act”. This is the biggest spending bill in U.S. history and it amounts to more than the combined gross domestic product of Canada and Australia. The bill proposes $3 trillion in tax increases, the largest increase most of us have seen in our lifetimes. America's middle-class families will likely be hit the hardest by this tax increase, which also proposes hiking the corporate tax from 21% to 26.5%. American workers will shoulder an estimated 70% of the corporate income tax in the forms of wage and employment. The bill will send jobs to our overseas competitors, benefiting China over America, and will make us more energy dependent on China with its rush to alternative energy sources. While we all agree that alternative energy is essential, this bill rushes to it by raising the price of gas and cars, which will hit middle-class America the most. The bill rewards cities that defund the police and allows Critical Race Theory (CRT) to be taught in our schools. Not only will the bill continue to hinder working-class families, but it will also add to Joe Biden's ever-growing inflation rate. It is, without question, one of the worse economic bills I have ever seen proposed. Over the next 52 hours, I am in Washington. I will spend nearly 40 hours debating the "Build More Inflation Act" and voting on amendments in this committee room. Today our committee meeting starts at 11 AM and continues until 3 AM Tuesday. The only break I have today is to take part in the Congressional Remembrance Ceremony for the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, which is being held on the Capitol Steps where we hear from House and Senate leaders, join in the singing of God Bless America, mourn the loss of life on 9/11, and recognize the first responders who inspired a country with their selfless bravery.

We begin our marathon debate of the "Build More Inflation Act" with opening statements. A link to my opening statement can be found here. The jurisdiction of the E&C committee happens to be is so broad, that we have 16 subtitles that we to address during the debate. These subtitles include air pollution, hazardous material, drinking water, energy, drug pricing, Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare, public health, next-generation 9-1-1, wireless connectivity, distance learning, manufacturing supply chain, FTC privacy enforcement, and the Department of Commerce's Inspector General office. During the debate of each subtitle, amendments are offered by the Republican minority, and, with very few exceptions, the vote is usually 32-26 in favor of the Democrat majority. During today's debate, I offer several amendments on different subtitles. A link to my proposed amendments to the Methane gas tax, and CRT can be found here, and here. Also, a link to my comments on the Democrats' efforts to defund the police can be found here.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021: After only a few hours of sleep, we're back at it this morning at 10 AM and continue with amendment proposals and debate until 2:30 AM Wednesday morning. Today, among the many subjects that we debate is the Hyde Amendment, a legislative provision that prevents taxpayer money from being used to pay for abortions, which the Democrats are proposing to eliminate. I also offered two amendments to the ACA subtitle and one amendment to the Medicaid subtitle. A link to my presentations can be found here and here. The only breaks I had during the mark-up were during the evening when I had a live virtual interview with Fox Business and later with NewsMax to discuss the vaccine mandate. A link to my interviews can be found here and here.

Wednesday, September 15, 2021: After another few hours of sleep, I'm back in the committee room at 9:30 AM ET this morning as we attempt to finish up our marathon mark-up. After hours of debate and failed amendments, we get our only victory today as we can convince three Democrats to join us in defeating H.R. 3, the awful proposal that will tie U.S. prices of a number of prescription drugs to an international price index that will result in eliminating much of the research and development (R&D) done by pharmaceutical manufacturers that have produced life-saving drugs and procedures. A link to my comments can be found here. After finally finishing at 3:30 PM, I head to the airport for my return trip home.

I would certainly be remiss if I did not give kudos to what I think is the finest legislative staff on Capitol Hill who worked with me during this entire process and provided me with invaluable information and consult.

Thursday, September 16, 2021: There's no rest for the weary as I'm back at it early this morning as I join in on our all-staff conference call while traveling to Port Wentworth for a visit and tour of EMD chemicals, a great company that provides color pigments used in cosmetics, drugs, and paint. The detail and expertise that goes into the manufacturing of these products are unsurpassed. EMD provides around 200 of the 1800 high-paying jobs associated with the chemical industry in the First Congressional District.

Afterward, I head to downtown Savannah where I attend the Tourism Leadership Council Monthly Luncheon. First, we hear from Georgia State Senator Ben Watson as he brings us up to date on COVID and the upcoming redistricting process in the State. The Tourism Leadership Council, led by my good friend Michael Owens, is the leading trade organization for tourism in our area and provides outstanding services for one of our district's most important economic drivers. Next, I head to our Savannah District office, where I have a virtual call with LifeLink Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives through organ and tissue donation for Georgia residents. Finally, after a phone interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to discuss the $3.5 trillion "Build More Inflation Act" that the Democrats are proposing, I record a video celebrating Georgia Pre-K week before heading to the Chatham County Health Department to film this week's edition of Buddy's Briefing. Once back in Pooler, I have a live virtual interview with Fox Business to discuss the COVID vaccine mandate. A link to my interview can be found here.

Friday, September 17, 2021: I'm on St. Simons Island in Glynn County today as I participate in the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce (COC) Golf Tournament. With over 1200 members, the Brunswick-Golden Isles COC promotes a favorable economic climate by supporting and initiating projects that benefit the community's welfare. Because of my unique golfing skills, I have had many different experiences on the golf course, but today is the first time I have taken a sports coat with me. It is also the first time I have done a Facetime interview on the golf course, as I join Neil Cavuto live on Fox Business to discuss the $3.5 trillion "Build More Inflation Act" and COVID vaccine mandate. A link to my interview can be found here.
