ICYMI: The Inflation Acceleration Act

The House is considering a spending package that has the potential to upend every sector of American life. From adding fuel to the fire of inflation to pushing Green New Deal policies and killing medical innovation, it's time to call this bill what it really is: The Inflation Acceleration Act.

In case you missed it, I was in New York City last week making sure the media heard the truth about this disastrous spending package. Here are the highlights:

ON WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS' PROPOSED TAX HIKES:

"It is the Inflation Acceleration Act. It's going to pour fuel on the fire, that's the last thing we need right now. You do not increase taxes during a recession and we are in a recession."

"If you read the reports, even from the Joint Committee on Taxation, they have said that, yes, it is going to raise taxes, and it is going to raise taxes on those who are making less than $400,000 a year, which is something [.Biden] said he would not do."

ON GREEN NEW DEAL POLICIES:

"We are going to suffer the same fate that Europe has suffered...they've shut down their nuclear plants, and now, since wind and solar are not giving them what they need right now...they've had to go back to Russia, use dirty natural gas, dirtier than what ours is, and use the fuel from Russia."

ON THE FIRST DISTRICT:

"We get calls in our office every day from people who are telling me, 'I can't afford gas to get to work, but I can't afford not to go to work.' We have a strong rural presence, [agriculture] community in our District, and they're telling me, 'I can't afford diesel, I can't afford fertilizer, I can't afford to plant a crop this year, what am I going to do?' People are hurting."

ON THE PERILOUS STATE OF THE ECONOMY:

"This is the worst thing that the Democrats could do...When will [Washington Democrats] understand that you cannot spend your way out of inflation?"

"I mean, look at our economy and what's happening right now. We have lower wages, we've got lower spending, yet we have higher gas prices and higher inflation...our economy is in a mess."

ON SKY-HIGH GAS PRICES:

"I don't know how this Administration can possibly think that people are satisfied with gas being at $4.11, and we're supposed to celebrate that? This is ridiculous. We've got to unleash our American energy independence, our energy prowess, here in America."

ON WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS' DRUG PRICING PROPOSALS:

"This is one of the worst things that could possibly happen to research and development here in America. As a pharmacist, I can tell you, that's my biggest fear. Yes, the economic part, that's awful, and it makes no sense whatsoever; but, I am very concerned about this prescription drug pricing they're trying to pass here. This is not the way that we should do it. This will kill research and development in our country."

ON THE WHITE HOUSE REDEFINING 'RECESSION':

"We are in a recession, I don't care how the Administration defines it, we're in a recession. Just ask the average American, 9 out of 10 of them will tell you yes, we are in a recession."

ON LIFTING THE ECONOMY OUT OF A RECESSION:

"We need to stop the spending, we need to make sure that we are not doing any harm, we need to make sure that we are decreasing the regulatory burden in America, and we need to unleash our energy independence."
