WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) this week secured several wins for conservation and water system improvements in Georgia’s First Congressional District as part of the House-passed Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations bill for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024.
The bill included $1.75 million for Springfield, GA’s Sewer Force Main Construction project, $1 million for Darien, GA’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project, and $305.54 million for the Land and Water Conservation Fund for the National Park State Assistance Programs.
“Our region is experiencing tremendous growth. It is critical that we update our water infrastructure to meet this increased demand while also recognizing the importance of maintaining the First District’s natural beauty for decades to come. I’m proud that this bill protects our economy and environment by enacting smart investments and spending cuts that will help the United States remain competitive,” said Rep. Carter.
H.R. 4821 responsibly allocates taxpayer dollars by, among other priorities, reining in wasteful Washington spending, prioritizing funding for public safety and other critical operations, expanding access to critical minerals, protecting hunting and fishing access, and unleashing America’s energy dominance. The bill reduced non-defense discretionary spending by 35 percent compared to FY23.
