Washington, D.C. — House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) announced today that Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) will serve as Chair of the Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee, replacing Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH), who is retiring from Congress later this month.
“Energy and Commerce Republicans are leading on solutions to improve people’s lives, lower costs, and ensure the U.S. leads a new era of innovation. Buddy Carter has played a pivotal role in these efforts on the Committee and has consistently advocated for American values, such as free market competition, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship. He is exceptionally qualified to lead this Subcommittee as we continue our efforts to unleash American energy, reduce emissions, and beat China,” said Chair McMorris Rodgers.
“As the representative for the entire coast of Georgia, which includes the Okefenokee Swamp, major U.S. ports, critical mineral mines, and a robust manufacturing industry, I am honored and excited to lead the Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee. I want to thank Bill Johnson for his leadership and dedication to serving the great people of Ohio, and Chair McMorris Rodgers for entrusting me with this important subcommittee.
“For the remainder of the 118th Congress, this subcommittee will work to protect American jobs and innovation while preserving our natural beauty for generations to come. By rolling back burdensome regulations, incentivizing growth and investment, and deploying an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy strategy, we can cement America’s status as a free-market leader in emissions reduction and environmental stewardship,” said Rep. Buddy Carter.
