EFFINGHAM – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) secured $1.75 million in federal funding to expand Effingham County’s water and sewer infrastructure as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Department of Interior and Environment Appropriations Act.
The funding will support a project to increase the pumping capacity of Hodgeville Road Lift Station No. 4 by constructing 26,000 feet of 18-inch force main to accommodate additional development. The current 12-inch force main does not have the capacity to serve projected future wastewater flows.
“I’m proud to support this critical funding for Effingham County, which has one of the fastest growth rates in the State of Georgia. With the announcement of several large economic development projects in our district, this funding will ensure that both current and future Effingham County residents have their water and sewer needs met,” said Rep. Carter.
“This appropriation will be a major boost to our efforts to continue a high-level quality of sewer service for Effingham County’s current residents and businesses, as well as those who come here in the future. We are very appreciative of Congressman Carter for recognizing our need and securing an additional funding source for it. The project is truly vital. It will nearly double the capacity of our force main line,” said Effingham County Board of Commissioners Chairman Wesley Corbitt.
