WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) today announced his guest for President Trump’s first joint address to Congress of his second term, Missy Jarrott, a First District resident whose son tragically died of a fentanyl poisoning after multiple failed attempts to schedule a Veteran’s Affairs (VA) appointment. Missy has since dedicated her life to advocating for reforms to the VA and raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl.
“I’m proud to be joined by First District resident Missy Jarrott, who has given the pain of losing her son, Landon, a purpose through advocating for necessary reforms to the VA and raising awareness about the dangers of illicit fentanyl poisoning. We are battling an epidemic in this country, and President Trump’s emphasis on securing our border is an important step towards addressing it and saving lives,” said Rep. Carter. “I have full confidence in Georgia’s own Secretary Doug Collins to bring needed change as head of the VA and look forward to working with him to improve quality of life for our nation’s veterans.”
