Carter Announces Savannah Airport Improvement Grant

Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-Ga.) today announced a $4,222,340.00 federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) airport grant for the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. The grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be used for terminal building improvements.
"It is great news that this federal funding will be directed to our airport," said Carter. "As the tourism and business needs in our area continue to grow, this funding will help to ensure our airport is able to keep up with the demand." According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the grant will assist in the construction of a 19,000 square foot federal inspection services terminal building and 15,488 square yards of associated concrete apron to accommodate the increased demand in arrivals for both general aviation and commercial air traffic. |
