Carter Statement on House Democrats Transmitting Articles of Impeachment

Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-Ga.) released the following statement today after House Democrats voted to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate after delaying the transmission for nearly a month:

"Throughout the entire impeachment process, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats decried the urgency of impeaching the President of the United States. However, instead of transmitting the articles to the Senate immediately after they voted to impeach the President in the House, Nancy Pelosi let the articles sit on her desk for a month. This has proven to the American people that there was never an urgent need to impeach the President and has allowed the public to see what we have been saying all along - this is a sham impeachment process based on political games and emotions instead of fact. Plain and simple, House Democrats fundamentally failed to prove their case.

"While I am disappointed this will continue to waste the American people's time and money as impeachment consumes the Senate, I hope this will be treated as a fair trial across the Capitol, instead of the political debauchery that transpired in the House."
