Carter Named Taxpayer Super Hero by Citizens Against Government Waste

Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-Ga.) was named a Taxpayer Super Hero today by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste for his record of voting to cut wasteful spending and defending the interests of taxpayers.

"There is no question about it, Washington has a spending problem," said Carter. "But it's past time to cut up the credit cards. Even during this unprecedented time, we must make sure each and every taxpayer dollar is spent carefully. I'm proud to be named a Taxpayer Super Hero and I will continue to lead the charge to fight waste in the federal budget."

“We applaud Rep. Carter for his tireless work on behalf of the taxpayers while serving in Congress. His courageous votes to cut wasteful spending and make government more accountable should serve as an example to other members, challenging them to keep their promises to protect the fiscal interests of American taxpayers.  We have no doubt that Rep. Carter will continue to help lead the effort to eradicate wasteful spending and bring fiscal sanity to Washington. His constituents should be very proud of him,"
said Council for Citizens Against Government Waste President Tom Schatz.

According to the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, since 1989, they have examined roll call votes to help identify which members of Congress have defended taxpayer interests and which have backed away from their promises of fiscal responsibility. The Congressional Ratings evaluate important tax, spending, transparency, and accountability measures.

Carter is one of only 27 Representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives to be named a Taxpayer Super Hero.
