Carter Introduces Legislation to Name Post Office for Senator Jack Hill

Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-Ga.) and all members of Georgia’s delegation in the U.S. House of Representatives have introduced legislation to name the Post Office Building at 111 James Street in Reidsville, Georgia as the Senator Jack Hill Post Office Building.

"For 30 years, Jack served Georgians with immense dedication and kindness," said Carter. "He was a brilliant servant of the people and he fought for his constituents and his community each and every day. Naming a post office in Jack's hometown will honor his remarkable contributions to our great state and will work to preserve his legacy of public service for his fellow Georgians."

Born and raised in Reidsville, Senator Jack Hill was a dear friend and mentor to Carter and much of Georgia's Congressional delegation. A retired grocer, Senator Hill was sworn into the Georgia State Senate in 1991, and eventually was named chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. His 30 years of service to Georgia were marked by Senator Hill’s commitment to his fellow Georgians, and under his leadership as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Georgia maintained a “Triple A” bond rating. Senator Hill also served in Georgia’s Air National Guard for 33 years as both a unit commander and State Inspector General.

Every member of Georgia's House delegation joined Carter in the introduction of this bill.
