Carter Applauds Air Force Decision to Replace C-130 Aircrafts at the 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah

Following requests from Congressman Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-Ga.), the United States Air Force announced today they will replace aging C-130H aircraft at the 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah with newer C-130J models. 

"This is great news," said Carter. "This decision will ensure longevity for the mission in Savannah and assist them in their role as the region’s pre-eminent airlift wing. Whether it’s supporting combatant commanders in the field or assisting in disaster relief, the 165th Airlift Wing continues to do tremendous work for the Air National Guard and our communities."

Background:

Today, the U.S. Air Force announced the basing decisions for the next round of C-130J aircraft and the 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah made the list. Contingent on aircraft being included in the FY2021 National Defense Authorization Act, the wing will receive the newer C-130J models to replace their aging C-130H models in late 2023.
