Carter Calls for John Kerry’s Resignation

Today, Congressman Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-Ga.) sent a letter to President Biden with other House Republicans calling for Special Envoy for Climate John Kerry’s resignation following reports that Kerry passed classified information regarding Israeli military activity to the Iranian regime.

In the letter, the members wrote, “today it was reported that your Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, has been passing classified information regarding Israeli military activity to the Iranian regime. If true, this dangerous, outright illegal, and borderline treasonous act must be addressed by you.

We are writing to demand that you take immediate action and call for Special Envoy Kerry’s resignation, and order Attorney General Merrick Garland to open an investigation into this allegation.

Recently, an audio recording of Iranian Foreign Minister Javid Zarif, who worked closely with then Secretary of State Kerry in 2015 on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, was leaked. The recording catches the Iranian official claiming your now Special Envoy informed him of at least 200 Israeli air strikes on Iranian positions in Syria. If this is in fact the case, John Kerry has willfully shared classified information regarding one of our most loyal allies to the most dangerous, terrorist-sponsoring regime in the Middle East.

As President of the United States, you swore to protect the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic. John Kerry did the same. You must demand his resignation today, before he shares more classified information with more of our adversaries like China or Russia."

Reps. Carter, Greg Stuebe (R-FL), Yvette Herrell (R-NM), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Stephanie Bice (R-OK), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Bob Gibbs (R-OH), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Jason Smith (R-MO), Scott Perry (R-PA), Bob Good (R-VA), Jeff Duncan (R-SC), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Pete Sessions (R-TX) and Ralph Norman (R-SC) joined the letter led by Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mi).
