WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) today was selected by Energy and Commerce Committee Chair-Elect Brett Guthrie (R-KY) to serve as Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health for the 119th Congress.
"As a pharmacist for more than forty years, I am thrilled to sit atop the Health Subcommittee for the 119th Congress under the stalwart leadership of Chair-Elect Guthrie. The goal of this subcommittee is as straightforward as it is consequential: help Americans live healthier and longer lives. We will work towards this goal, in lockstep with President Trump, to tackle our nation’s chronic disease epidemic, increase price transparency, incentivize competition, combat harmful health care consolidation, fight the scourge of fentanyl, and build a health care system that puts patients before profits. Through transparency, competition, and innovation, we will Make America Healthy Again," said Rep. Carter.
"I look forward to working with Congressman Carter in his new role as Chair of the Subcommittee on Health. Congressman Carter’s life-long work as a community pharmacist has given him the unique understanding of the challenges facing our health care system and the work Congress needs to undertake to lower health care costs for hard-working Americans and their families. Congressman Carter is focused on increasing transparency in our health care system and lowering the costs of prescription drugs by holding middlemen accountable. I look forward to working with Congressman Carter to develop conservative health solutions for the American people," said Chairman-Elect Guthrie.
